As others have already stated, you can buy the box set of 7th plain stuff covering Yellow Wise Rug, 4 Cornered Room and tracks from a few other bits and bobs for a good price.
Not a repress but Warp have released a boxset of The 7th Plain Chronicles I-III which has most of these tunes and a lot of others as well
let us all take time to properly enjoy the cover sleeve
This is a phenomenal album! First listen I thought not bad. Then the more you listen to it the deeper you get sucked in and you hear more layers to it. Some of the songs you just wish they went on for longer. "The needs of the many" as an example. Wow top stuff.
the man's a true sound alchemist. brilliant synth programming on those 7th Plain tracks. Timeless
Probably the best record Luke Slater has ever done and most likely ever will. Beautiful IDM/electronica/techno album. Prices are a little crazy on this. Found mine for less than a tenner on ebay a few years back, just keep your eye out!!. GPR did some cracking stuff back in the early /mid nineties, Black Dog, Radioactive Lamb etc. A great sunday afternoon chill listen with the paper!!
Luke slater trounces so many others who try too hard, like global communications etc. I can recall buying Model 500 records from upastaris at Jelly Jam sooo many years ago now. Luke was there at the beginning and will most likely be there at the end.
Trash Obsession
Oh how i remember that shop......tiny but full of gold.
Had a copy on cassette for years finally picked up the vinyl as well. Still sounds amazing in 2016
this album is a complete opposite of his x-tront series. i bought this upon release thinking id get more of the same, and was totally surprised at how different it was. i wasn't disappointed and used several of the tracks for DJing.A quality album top to bottom (terrible cover aside!!!) - 8/10
What about a repress of this beauty? It would be high time.
lets go baby
"Chronicles I" has been released today on the Ostgut Ton label.
one of the best jobs (Luke Slater)
I got this when it came out in 1994 and was really disappointed. It just seemed flat, and bland, and trying to hard to sound beautiful. And the cover design was awful. But I persevered: if ever a release rewarded repeated listenings, this is it. So many hidden levels, so much variety of styles. Very subtle, and very beautiful: without trying too hard!
Think Global Communication meets Kenny Larkin and both doing their finest. This in absolute essential for collectors of Warp heads and probably the best GPR release EVER!. Its a more intelligent sound than the stuff he's been pigeon-holed into and up-there in the finest electronica LP's of that year.
"Global Communication meets Kenny Larkin" -- great description.
